It queries availability metadata, dataset structures, and time-series data using SDMX-standard dimensions — ideal for economic dashboards, global monitoring, financial analysis, and research tools.

The IMF SDMX Connector offers the following integration point to query dataset structure metadata.
- Get Structure by Type. Retrieve structure definitions — dataflows, datastructures, code lists, and concepts — maintained by a specific agency.

Get Structure by Type

| Purpose | Retrieves structural metadata (codelists, concepts, datastructures) of a specific type maintained by the provided agency. |
| Parameters | Required: structureType (e.g. datastructure, dataflow, codelist, conceptscheme); agencyId (e.g. IMF). Optional: references (none/parents/children/all); detail (full/reference/allstubs); version (default latest); includeHistory (true/false). |
| Output | Successful: structural metadata of the specified type — a list of dataflows, codelists, or data structures. Failure: error for missing/invalid structure types, unknown agencies, or incorrect parameters. |
| Workflow example | Request structureType=datastructure and agencyId=IMF, then display available structures in a dropdown before retrieving data. |
